Cycling Spots around Tasiilaq

Greenland

The east coast of Greenland is around 20,000 km long, and the only city is Tasiilaq. Almost all people in east Greenland live in Tasiilaq, but some travel back to their home villages during summertime. The total population is around 3,300.

The only airport on the east coast is Kulusuk. This is a small island around 15 minutes by helicopter from Tasiilaq. Icelandair flies regularly from Reykjavik/Iceland. During summertime, Air Greenland also flies from Nuuk to Kulusuk. Both are using smaller planes, and the airport might be closed for landing for a longer period due to bad weather.

This is one of the most remote areas in the world.

The harbors are only open a few months a year due to the ice covering the area between Iceland and Greenland.

It is possible to reach some small villages by regular helicopter flights. During summertime, it’s also possible to charter some small boats. By boat, it's possible to visit the Sermelig fjord and see the big iceberg floating throughout the fjord. Almost all ski expeditions across the ice cap start or end in Tasiilaq.
