Cycling Spots around Valle Gran Rey

La Gomera

La Gomera is quite a small island. To ride from coast-to-coast is about 50km (100km return). With all ferry connections coming into San Sebastián, it is the logical starting point for cyclists. However, for extended stays, you may consider booking accommodation in other remote parts of the island.

There is accommodation splattered around the outskirts of the island, including some hotels in Valle Gran Rey, located on the western side of the island. This could be a nice location for those seeking a quiet multi-day stay on the island, away from the slightly busier areas like San Sebastián

This can come with challenges for those travelling with their bike. Booking a tour with a local expert who knows the island will give you the best La Gomera cycling experience.

Travelling in Summer

July & August are the peak tourist months but it is not as hectic as Tenerife. Still, you should book accommodation and transfers well in advance. The cost of accommodation & travel in La Gomera is relatively cheaper than Tenerife and you will need to consider the 50min ferry ride from Tenerife. It is also possible to do day trips from Tenerife with a return ferry but it can make for a long day. Make sure you plan ahead and check the ferry times. There is a small airport with flights only between Tenerife and Gran Canaria.
