Cycling Spots around Lincolnshire Wolds

Midlands

If you are looking for quiet roads, deathly quiet roads with rolling hills that will get you out of breath but never hurt you then you are looking for the Lincolnshire Wolds.

Between Market Rasen and Louth this designated Area of Natural Beauty is packed with lanes that climb up through the undulating farmland far far from any madding crowd. If you do get bored of the climbs then head further east to ride the flat lands that stretch to the wind swept coast. Heading the other way, ride over to Lincoln to tackle the infamous cobbles of Michael Gate which ramp up through the city on a 1 in 6 gradient to finish outside the giant gothic cathedral.

Planning your cycling trip

2. Choosing when to book:

Midlands in Summer

Even though Summer is statistically the driest part of the year, the weather is still unpredictable and it can rain on and off, particularly in July. You’ll still need to plan for anything. Read the weather reports and decide on the morning of your ride.

Summer Road Conditions

Warmer temperatures and (statistically) less rain make Summer a great time to be on the English roads. Some roads can have more traffic during holiday periods. Best to speak with a local to get more detailed advice.

Travelling in Summer

It can be harder to find accommodation in summer months so make sure you book early… and don’t forget to pack your suncream.

3. Know who to speak with:

Always speak with a local expert BEFORE booking your trip. Valuable local knowledge will ensure you get the most out of your cycling holiday.
