Cycling Spots around Athens

Southern Greece

Athens is a huge metropolis of 5 million inhabitants. The traffic can be chaotic but is surprisingly incredible for riding. Athens has 3 mountains and a superb coastal road of 70km (~140km return) and one of these mountains is located in the middle of the city climbing up to 980 m in 10km - almost alpine altitude!

If you disregard the chaotic traffic, you can have some superb riding in Athens.
For gravel and adventure riding, you can also ride to the port and hop on a ferry to a nearby island as a day tour.

The same holds for the Proastiakos railway that connects you to some really cool
day trips with road/gravel riding.
