Cycling Spots around Jura/Bern (Cantons)

Swiss Jura Mountains

The cantons of Jura and Bern are among those regions where you can't go wrong with the scenery. Even if you start out in a town like Delémont, it won't take you more than 10 minutes to find yourself in the heart of the pastures. Although there are no major mountain passes, the Jura offers undulating terrain that will appeal to cyclists of all abilities.

While Switzerland is notorious for relatively high accommodation costs for foreign guests, the Jura offers more affordable rates. Don't hesitate to stop off at one of the métairies (i.e. rural, family-run restaurants) for a dish of ham-rösti or a slice of pie. Remember to take cash with you; not all of them accept credit cards.

Travelling in Summer

One thing that is great with cycling holidays is that you are mobile. So, the region is small enough to find a nice location in a “remote area” (e.g. Val de Travers, Vallée de Joux, Franches Montagnes).

3. Know who to speak with:

Always speak with a local expert BEFORE booking your trip. Valuable local knowledge will ensure you get the most out of your cycling holiday.
