Cycling Spots around Taipei

Taiwan

Taipei has an incredible amount of routes waiting for you, all of which have distinctly different characters. What’s more, most of the best roads can be accessed from the riverside paths, which give you a traffic free passage to the wilderness.

The variation is the attraction. Ride north to gain up to 1000m in elevation over volcanoes, ride south to find jungles with waterfalls that plunge nearly 100m into the rivers below, east to tea plantations, fruit farms and the cliffs over the Pacific Ocean or south west, to find the gentle river valleys.

You’ll be amazed how quickly you find yourself in a world that is a million miles from the bustling, vibrant, modern Asian city that you will return to after each adventure, yet all the time it won't take long be able to sit down to get refreshed in one of the thousands of convenience stores to be found across the island.

Taipei is a mecca for cycling all by itself, and it's just the gateway to the rest of the treats Taiwan has for the cyclist.

Travelling in Summer

Also, be aware that the midday temperatures can be very hot, so prepare accordingly, look to finish. your ride before 10am or begin your ride after 4pm. Accommodation in the summer can be a little harder to find during the school holidays, so if you plan a trip during this time, be sure to book in plenty of advance.
