About the Route

The #switchbacksaturday project aims to explore amazing routes in regions that are off some cyclists’ radars.

Turkey remains a relatively undiscovered cycling region with lots of great climbing to explore. For the second ever switchbacksaturday, we’ll be tackling the “Alpe d’Huez” of Turkey; Kiran.

Kiran is the first climb on the menu after we leave the tourist town of Akyaka. Kiran is slightly shorter than Alpe d’Huez but has just as many switchbacks. The scenery is much different too. Starting the climb at sea level, we’ll rise up through the pine forests with vistas looking out over the Aegean Sea.

After Kiran, we will wind our way around the hinterland taking in other climbs & descents with plenty of switchbacks. Including Sarnic and Kuyucak before returning back to Akyaka.
