About the Route

Tour de Lysefjord is a climbers paradise. This #switchbacksaturday route involves logistics as it is impossible to do a loop without crossing the 42 km long Lysefjord.

Lysebotn Climb

Designated an HC climb, it is brutal as it is beautiful. The Lysebotn climb gains 854 metres in 9km and is packed with 27 switchbacks. Walls of rock falling vertically into the fjord gives a stunning scenery.

Giljastølen

Giljastølen is set in a rural landscape with grazing livestock on your way up. The descent down to Frafjord on the other side is a spectacular hidden gem.

Lysefjord

Cycling in this area involves logistics as it is impossible to do a loop without crossing the 42km long Lysefjord.

If you are travelling to Lysebotn by boat through the Lysefjord, you’ll be able to appreciate stunning views of the Kjerag Rock and Preikestolen - the two prized tourism attractions of the region.
