Cycling Spots around Icod / Puerto de la Cruz
Tenerife
The northern coast of Tenerife offers a completely different landscape to the arid southern slopes of Teide. With more cloudy and rainy weather prevailing during late autumn/winter/early spring across the north of the island, there’s much more greenery.
The riding is good but it really is made for climbers with some super steep routes. Once you’re out of the heavy traffic on the main roads in the urban areas of Icod de los Vinos and Puerto de la Cruz, there is good access to the upper slopes of Teide. There are also LOTS of gravel roads in the forest. Speak with a local guide / expert and you’ll be in for a treat.
These coastal towns have good choices for hotels and restaurants but it is recommended to book a stay in the summer months to enjoy the most reliable weather for the year.
