Cycling Spots around Santa Cruz / San Christobal
Tenerife
Santa Cruz de Tenerife is perfect for those who like the big-city vibe but while still being very close to nature. With its own airport, the city also offers plenty of bicycle services and a very nicely developed network of bicycle guardians (guiding). It can be a little daunting riding in some areas of the city but if you get the right advice / guiding, it will make you feel more comfortable.
There’s plenty of choice for hotels and restaurants for all types of food but it can be slightly more expensive than other areas in the south of Tenerife.
It is also a great launching pad for cycling to Anaga; the GEM of the island. is worth being there even everyday of your cycling stay here ;)
Outside the city areas, you’ll find very pleasant villages sprawled across the mountainous landscapes and beautiful beaches. The eastern part of the island also has plenty of sun and relatively stable weather, unlike in the north of the island which can be rainy in spring, summer and autumn.
During the winter time, there is very high humidity and it might be rainy but still with very nice temperatures.
If you’re looking to base yourself around Santa Cruz, you shouldn’t limit yourself to just this part of the island. Consider hiring a car so you can also explore other parts of the south. There’s so much to see.
