Asturias

Asturias central Area has multiple possibilities for cycling lovers, with several La Vuelta climbs in the surroundings.

Among all of them, Alto del Angliru has become a cycling icon, thanks to its killer ramps and hard to believe percentages. You would need to be in top shape if you would like to challenge the Asturias giant. Breathtaking views await at the top, since it is a natural balcony of the whole area.

But there is more, and literally next door; Gamoniteiru, another monster climb, is also part of the Aramo range, as well as La Ermita del Alba, another La Vuelta end of Stage climb.

Not far away you can find La Cubilla, Cuitu Negro, Collado Fancuaya, San Lorenzo… Countless options for the avid cyclists.

For the nature lovers a visit to Las Ubiñas - La Mesa Natural Park is a good alternative; hiking and climbing are the main activities.

Oviedo, Asturias capital, is only a few kilometres away, and it will cover all the visitor needs related with lodging and gastronomy. Pola de Lena is an even closer to the action alternative.

Summer Road Conditions

July and August are the busiest months of the year, and the most tourist areas usually have heavy traffic. However most of the climbs (except Lagos de Covadonga) have low traffic. In some of them you will find more cows than cars! 🙂
